Our team
Senior Controller
Interview
This is Alba, who works as a Senior Controller at Tappx. She says that the best thing about her job is that it is crucial to have a deep understanding not only of finance but also of company strategy and employee wellness. Let’s know more about her.
Answer: It was something quite unexpected. I was looking for a new opportunity in a disruptive sector and I found the offer of Tappx. I started looking into the company and I really liked what Tappx does and, above all, the general essence of the company. I decided to start the selection process and finally, here I am!
A: For me, the best part of being a Controller is that it is crucial to have a deep knowledge not only in finance but also in other areas like the company strategy or even the level of employees wellness inside the company because it has a direct impact on the company results. A controller must help other teams to take decisions by providing objective data based on reality. It is a complete position that allows controllers to have an overview of the performance of the company and which has contact with the rest of the departments.
A: One important tip is to have curiosity and be learning all the time. Things change very fast nowadays and it is crucial to always be informed of everything that happens in the economy and in general. It is also important to have a good knowledge of analysis tools such as excel and power BI, as they make our daily life much easier.
A: It is a scalable sector that allows you to make a lot of money with few resources and with very little investment in Capex, and that is a very good thing because margins are much higher compared to other industries.
A: I always start the day doing the things that I like the least, so from the first moment I get it out of the way. I also check my emails early in the morning. Then, when I have finished these tiresome tasks, I do a break to take a coffee. If I am at the office I like to spend this time having small talk with my colleagues, and if I am at home I try to disconnect from the computer for a few minutes.
Now I am reading a book called Getting Things Done, to improve my skills organization. It describes the incredibly practical process that can help busy people get back control of their lives. I totally recommend it!
A: I think Tappx belongs to a sector that is not so affected by the economic crisis compared to other industries. At this time of economic slowdown, technology companies are going to try to monetize their spaces inside the apps and they will need companies like Tappx to do this.
A: Emails tend to take up a lot of time and are not always effective. I like better, as much as possible, to ask or talk about something in person, or make a brief phone call. 😊
A: I have my phone full of apps of all kinds, but I would say that the one I use the most daily is WhatsApp! Although I also use the iPhone Notes app a lot, I write down absolutely everything so I don’t forget anything!
A: Doing exercise is what helps me the most to disconnect from work and day-to-day obligations. Above all, playing paddle helps me to be very focused on the game and not think about anything else. And, as it is a social sport, contact with people is also really effective to break away.
A: If I won the lottery I would start my own company and I would buy some apartments to be rented and make a profit from the prize.
