Ettore Spinelli

Media Buying Team Leader

Interview

Ettore is a member of the Tappx Performance Team. That’s why he likes data analytics and thinking out of the box. He also says programmatic is fun, so let him explain! (To be honest, we’re pretty curious about it).

Question: How did you get into the programmatic industry?

Answer: I actually began my work career in the affiliate marketing space, and switched to programmatic a soon as I could when I understood it was even more fun and dynamic.

Q: What is the best part of being a Performance Manager?

A: I guess for me it’s having a direct impact on the company’s profits, having a clear vision of what you’re generating makes you feel as your job really matters.

Q: Could you list some tips to become a good Performance Manager? What are the essential skills needed in your job?

A: I think that data analysis and curiosity are the most valuable skills for being a good Performance Manager. You really need to push yourself and always try to think out of the box, in order to finally come up with solutions to your daily issues and blockers (which, trust me, are a lot!).

Q: Tell us about a recent reliable client relationship, success story, or goal you’re proud of.

A: The team knows me for my ability to make things that generally don’t work, work. For example: I’ve managed to get moving quite some sources of traffic that were stuck. I’d rather prefer to not disclose names. 😊

Q: How do you organize your day? What tools do you use and which of them are your favorite ones?

A: I believe I’m quite organized, I start my day listing things to do and goals I need to deliver by the end of the day, and I close the day already listing to dos for the following day. This way I can keep track of everything and hopefully not forget anything important. Uninstall any program from my computer but leave alone my Block Notes! I also use a lot the screenshots tool, trackers (which are my favorite and essential for what we do) and Canva.

Q: What do you expect from the future of the industry? What needs to be improved?

A: Fraud is still a huge problem in our industry, although seems systems are becoming little by little more advanced detecting them. At the same time, some tools which the entire industry relies on, still needs huge improvements.

Q: Do you have any idea how many emails you send per day?

A: Very few, I’m not really an email guy and fortunately (for me) most of my daily communications happen on Skype or Slack.

Q: What is the app you use the most in your daily life?

A: Mozilla Firefox and messaging apps (WhatsApp, Telegram).

Q: What is the first thing you do when you get home and disconnect from work?

A: I play videogames!

Q: What would you do if you won the lottery?

A: I will probably spend my life traveling and doing charity.
