Interview
Meet Maciek, our Media Buys Team Leader in the Performance Team at Tappx! From his early days as an intern in Warsaw’s affiliate marketing scene to leading a team with empathy, structure, and strategic insight, Maciek brings a rare balance of analytical precision and creative flair. He’s passionate about data, loves a good spreadsheet, and finds joy in turning performance patterns into winning strategies. Outside of work? You’ll likely find him deep into a game soundtrack, playing video games, or solving the NYT Spelling Bee — with Reddit and a not-so-secret love for writing poetry never far behind.
Answer: My first job in the Performance Marketing world was an internship at an Affiliate Network in Warsaw, Poland. I started out helping the Performance team with daily tasks, but soon after I was trusted with my own client portfolio, mostly e-commerce advertisers.
A: The people are the best part. The entire Performance team is a delight to work with. I also really enjoy working with data. There’s always something to analyze, test, and optimize. Making data-driven decisions and seeing the direct impact is very rewarding.
A: Empathy and clear communication are key. Understanding your team’s strengths helps assign tasks effectively and keep motivation high. You also need to stay analytical and detail-oriented to spot performance patterns early. A good Team Lead should balance structure with flexibility, knowing when to guide and when to let people take the wheel.
A: I like to keep things neat and tidy, so I write everything down as a to-do list. Trello helps me stay on track, and Slack keeps everyone connected. My favourite tool, though, is MS Excel. I enjoy analyzing data and finding ways to automate repetitive tasks.
A: Probably Reddit. It’s a much nicer alternative to other doom-scrolling apps. The content I follow actually interests me, and I usually end up learning something new. Or at least that’s what I tell myself. When I have extra time, I go for NY Times Games – I’m addicted to their Spelling Bee.
A: I usually put on some music or a podcast to help my brain unwind. I love listening to soundtracks from my favourite movies and games, or DnD sessions when I want something more immersive. If I’ve got more time, I’ll play some video games.
A: First, I’d share it with my family to make sure everyone’s taken care of. Then I’d invest a portion and buy a house close to nature. I’d donate some and spend on the things that make me happy (like a high-end gaming PC).
A: Even though I work with numbers most of the time, I’ve always truly enjoyed words, too. Back in university, some of my poems and short stories were published in a student magazine. I still write every now and then, but not as often as I’d like. All in Polish, though, sorry about that.
