Romi Querecuto Soto

Romi’s journey into ad tech started by chance, but it quickly turned into a passion for building high-performing technology and empowering the people behind it. As our SSP Tech Team Leader, she combines deep technical expertise with a collaborative leadership style, helping her team overcome challenges while delivering reliable, scalable solutions. In this interview, Romi shares her experience in ad tech, the importance of cross-functional collaboration, and the mindset that helps great engineering teams succeed.

Question: How did you get into the programmatic industry?

Answer: By a stroke of luck! I joined Chartboost back in 2020 and ended up spending five fantastic years there. Before taking the role, I knew practically nothing about ad tech, but I quickly found it fascinating.

Q: What is the best part of being an SSP Tech Team Leader?

A: Getting a full view of our projects, from architecture to details, helps me lead as a supportive servant leader. Nothing is more fulfilling than removing obstacles and inspiring my team to deliver their best work.

Q: Could you list some tips for becoming a good SSP Tech Team Leader? What are the essential skills needed in your job?

Q: How do you organize your day? What tools do you use, and which are your favorite?

A: I like to review pending emails and Slack messages to catch any overnight updates or shifting priorities, then I map out my schedule around my key pending tasks and define 1- 2 concrete goals I want to accomplish by the end of the day.

Q: Do you have any idea how many emails you send per day?

A: Not many these days! It mostly depends on how much external communication I have on my plate. Internally, all collaboration happens over Slack.

Q: What is the app you use the most in your daily life?

A: Definitely my Calendar app. It’s my ultimate command center for structuring my day.

Q: What is the first thing you do when you get home and disconnect from work?

I immediately shift focus to quality family time.
