This is Leonardo, from the Tech Team at Tappx. He has a degree in computer science and says that being curious, patient and collaborative is crucial to be a good SysAdmin Developer. Let’s learn more.

Question: How did you get into the IT industry?

Answer: I started with a five-year degree in computer science with a programmer profile to get into IT and then I went further to the SysAdmin profile.

Q: What is the best part of being a SysAdmin/Devops?

A: Testing new technologies and tools and using them with the goal of deploying, improving, and maintaining a stable service.

Q: Could you list some tips to become a good SysAdmin/Devops? What are the essential skills needed in your job?

A: Be curious, be patient, listen to other’s experiences, and be collaborative.

Q: What skills do you look for in the people for your team?

A: People with curiosity, who likes to listen and be collaborative.

Q: Tell us about a successful result achieved as a team and how did you get it.

A: Migrating solutions/applications from Windows to Linux alternatives, migrating solutions/applications in a docker-swarm to Kubernetes clusters(2).

Q: How do you organize your day? What tools do you use and which of them are your favorite ones?

A: I’m used to using some kind of project manager where I have the tasks to be done in order of priority. I don’t have a favorite tool, but if I had to choose I prefer tools that get me information clearly, fast, and with a modern UI.

Q: What do you expect from the future of the industry? What needs to be improved from a technology standpoint?

A: Technology advances very fast, so I think that it’s important to improve processes like quality and security.

Q: Do you have any idea how many emails you send per day?

A: Not much, maybe 20 emails per day.

Q: What is the app you use the most in your daily life?

A: The apps that I use the most are chat apps like WhatsApp and Telegram.

Q: What is the first thing you do when you get home and disconnect from work?

A: The first thing I do when I get home and disconnect from work is anything that does not involve a computer.

Q: What would you do if you won the lottery?

A: Just a little toast with my family and save up to buy my own house.
