Yaiza is a Backend Developer in the Tappx<\/a> team. In this interview, we talk to her about the day to day in a department with a majority of men, the most useful tools for her role, and the future of the industry with the possibilities of AI.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Question:<\/em> How did you get into the AdTech industry?<\/h4>\n

Answer: <\/em>It was pure coincidence. I started working as a trainee developer in a company dedicated to programmatic.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Q:<\/em> What is the best part of being a Backend Developer?<\/h4>\n

A: <\/em>I think the best part of being a Backend Developer is the feeling when you\u2019ve been working on a feature that eventually is deployed to production. To be aware that you contributed to something that is going to be used by others.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Q:<\/em> Could you list some tips to become a good Backend Developer? What are the essential skills needed in your job?<\/h4>\n

A: <\/em>I would say:<\/p>\n

  • Organization<\/li>\n
  • Analytical thinking<\/li>\n
  • Team player spirit (even if you\u2019re working on a feature all by yourself, your work will become a part of something bigger where your teammates worked in).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

    Q:<\/em> You work in a department with a majority of men, right? What challenges do you have to face? Do you think this will change in the coming years?<\/h4>\n

    A: <\/em>Yes, it\u2019s a situation that I\u2019m used to. My experience as a developer is short as I\u2019m a junior, so up until now I\u2019m happy to say that in both teams I\u2019ve worked with I\u2019ve felt like another team member. I truly believe that more girls will find their path in the Tech industry in the coming years.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

    Q:<\/em> Tell us about a recent reliable client relationship, success story, or goal you\u2019re proud of.<\/h4>\n

    A: <\/em>I\u2019m new here so a goal I\u2019m proud of is to be able to start a new adventure here in Tappx!<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

    Q:<\/em> How do you organize your day? What tools do you use and which of them are your favorite ones?<\/h4>\n

    A: <\/em>I start the day by organizing all the tasks I have to do (and prioritizing them). The tools that help me to organize my work are Google Calendar, sometimes Notion or Google Keep, and a notebook (I\u2019m a fan of handwriting).<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

    Q:<\/em> What do you expect from the future of the industry? What needs to be improved?<\/h4>\n

    A: <\/em>With all news coming with AI, I think the future of the industry (and not only the industry) will be related to the use of AI.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

    Q:<\/em> Do you have any idea how many emails you send per day?<\/h4>\n

    A: <\/em>Not many. Less than three.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

    Q:<\/em> What is the app you use the most in your daily life?<\/h4>\n

    A: <\/em>Probably Google Keep as I\u2019m always writing notes for myself!<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

    Q:<\/em> What is the first thing you do when you get home and disconnect from work?<\/h4>\n

    A: <\/em>I work from home so when I turn off the computer all I want to do is go for a walk and disconnect outdoors.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

    Q:<\/em> What would you do if you won the lottery?<\/h4>\n

    A: <\/em>I would gift my parents a trip to Norway since they\u2019ve always wanted to visit it, and I would gift myself a trip to Japan!<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n
