This is our colleague Marc S\u00e1nchez. He works as a SysAdmin Developer at Tappx<\/a> and started his career as a computer repair technician. Now he works with servers and says that patience is the most essential skill in his job.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Question:<\/em> How did you get into the programmatic industry?<\/h4>\n

Answer:<\/em> I started a few years ago as a computer repair technician, I showed my web development interest and changed my position in the company I was in. A few months later, working with lots of services, I realized I wanted to work with servers instead of coding, so the company I was working for let me work with their small (but cool for me) infrastructure.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Q:<\/em> What is the best part of being a Tech Developer?<\/h4>\n

A:<\/em> I love when different services work together in a nearly perfect way. Thinking about some features, implement them, and see how they manage to work together\u2026 It\u2019s like magic.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Q:<\/em> Could you list some tips to become a good TD? What are the essential skills
\nneeded in your job?<\/h4>\n

A:<\/em> A lot of patience, and when I say a lot is really A LOT. You can be configuring some service and\u2026 boom, not starting. Looking for its cause is easy because we have logs that say what\u2019s wrong. But sometimes there\u2019s little or null service documentation, and there\u2019s when most people start struggling. I\u2019d say patience, good sleep, and knowing when to rest from the computer.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Q:<\/em> Tell us about a recent success story or job goal you\u2019re proud of.<\/h4>\n

A:<\/em> I\u2019ve recently got back to my tech roots and tried to code a self-hosted service, and did it in a language I\u2019ve been years looking to learn for.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Q:<\/em> How do you organize your day? What tools do you use and which of them are your favorite ones?<\/h4>\n

A:<\/em> I start every day with a cup of tea (replaced with orange juice on summer, tea is too hot) and see our \u201cin progress\u201d projects and tasks. Check what was done last day and see what can we do on the starting day.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Q:<\/em> What do you expect from the future of the industry? What needs to be
\nimproved?<\/h4>\n

A:<\/em> Lots of things need to be improved. But things are changing so fast and the tech industry has a lot of future. I expect more changes than I\u2019m currently expecting, so the best for us is to be ready.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Q:<\/em> Do you have any idea how many emails you send per day?<\/h4>\n

A:<\/em> Manually 0 emails, as I don\u2019t need to use email to do my tasks, but as sometimes it\u2019s necessary, I\u2019d say 0.05 emails per day ;P.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Q:<\/em> What is the app you use the most in your daily life?<\/h4>\n

A:<\/em> My magical and beloved terminal, followed by Slack and Firefox. I love lots of other apps, especially if they\u2019re open-source.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Q:<\/em> What is the first thing you do when you get home and disconnect from work?<\/h4>\n

A:<\/em> I use to try to go on a walk or bike. Maybe I don\u2019t disconnect mentally or digitally. But my body needs to disconnect from a comfortable and back-breaker chair.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Q:<\/em> What would you do if you won the lottery?<\/h4>\n

A:<\/em> I\u2019d go for safe things, such as buying a normal house in a quiet town or city, with several services. And if there\u2019s a lot of money, maybe a great trip with some friends to share my wealth.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n
